AHCA/NCAL Welcomes Two New Affiliates, Expanding Membership to All 50 States

AHCA/NCAL Updates
WASHINGTON, D.C. - The American Health Care Association and National Center for Assisted Living (AHCA/NCAL) announced today that it will now be affiliating with the Montana Health Care Association (MHCA) and the newly formed Wyoming Long Term Care Association (WLTCA). The return of MHCA means AHCA/NCAL now officially represents long term and post-acute care providers in all 50 states and the District of Columbia. The change goes into effect immediately.

“This is a momentous milestone and a clear indication of our unity as a profession," said AHCA/NCAL President & CEO Clif Porter. “The collective voice of long term and post-acute care is stronger when we operate with a single vision for what we aim to achieve in Washington, across all 50 states, and in every community in the country. I'm grateful to Montana and Wyoming for their commitment to our mission of improving lives by delivering solutions and to all members for their unrelenting pledge to quality care."

“Our nursing homes and assisted living facilities are part of a landscape that continues to evolve—with new regulatory, clinical, and operational challenges emerging each year. The affiliation between MHCA and the AHCA positions us to better serve our communities and members," said MHCA Executive Director Rose Hughes. “By joining forces with AHCA, we strengthen our collective voice and gain access to critical resources and advocacy. I am confident that this partnership will be a lasting and successful one, ensuring Montana senior care facilities remain at the forefront of quality care for years to come."

“This is an exciting time in Wyoming, bringing our state's nursing homes under one umbrella. Having a unified voice for serving our aging population is important," said WLTCA President Eric Boley. “As one of the oldest states demographically, Wyoming has a tremendous responsibility and opportunity to enhance its long term care system. Having strong national partners like AHCA, that bring incredible resources and advocacy to the table, will help us deliver results for our residents and caregivers."

The newly formed WLTCA replaces LeadingAge Wyoming and the Wyoming Health Care Association where both not-for-profit and proprietary long term care providers can join. Upon joining WLTCA, these Wyoming facilities will have the option to join both national organizations, AHCA/NCAL and LeadingAge.

As a federation of affiliated state health organizations, AHCA/NCAL has achieved record membership in 2025, representing a diverse range of providers. Most of the nation's nursing homes and a growing number of assisted living communities have made AHCA/NCAL the largest trade association representing long term and post-acute care. Members benefit from the organization's advocacy efforts in Washington, D.C., as well as access to exclusive resources, programs, and events that support the association's mission of improving lives by delivering solutions for quality care.
