AHCA/NCAL President & CEO Mark Parkinson today was named as the 2024 recipient of McKnight’s Pinnacle Career Achievement Award. The Pinnacle awards program recognizes industry veterans who are setting the standards, driving change, providing guidance and inspiring us all.
“I’m humbled by this recognition,” said Parkinson. “Since my time running nursing home and assisted living facilities with my wife, Stacy, I have had the honor and great fortune to work in the long term care profession. This sector is filled with some of the hardest working people I know, and their passion for the residents is why I love what I do. I’m grateful to have called incredibly smart and talented people my colleagues, and I share this recognition with all of them.”
Parkinson has long been recognized for his leadership and advocacy efforts during his tenure as President & CEO of AHCA/NCAL. He was named a top lobbyist for 11 consecutive years (2013-2023) by The Hill, a leading Capitol Hill newspaper. Parkinson also had the distinction of being selected as one of the “100 Most Influential People in Healthcare” by Modern Healthcare in 2015, 2020, 2021, 2022, and 2023. Parkinson was named Top CEO in the small-employer category by The Washington Post 2019 Top Workplace survey, and Top Association CEO by CEO Update in 2013. Washingtonian selected Parkinson as one of Washington, DC’s 500 Most Influential People in 2022 and 2023.
The Career Achievement Award is one of several awards that will be presented by McKnight’s at its upcoming Pinnacle Awards annual event in March. Among them is the Industry Ally Award, for which AHCA/NCAL Senior Vice President of Government Relations Clifton J. Porter, II will receive.
