PBJ Reporting: Key Steps Ahead of the November 14 Deadline

Regulations; PBJ; CMS

The next Payroll-Based Journal (PBJ) reporting deadline is approaching. Providers must submit data for Fiscal Quarter 4 (July 1–September 30, 2026) by November 14, 2026, at 11:59 p.m. ET.

All PBJ submissions and reports are now managed through iQIES. Providers are strongly encouraged to submit early to allow time to review validation reports, correct errors, and resubmit files before the deadline.

Review Your Data and Confirm Successful Submission
After submitting, review all applicable PBJ reports in iQIES to confirm that files were processed successfully and identify any issues requiring correction before the deadline.

At a minimum, providers should:
  • Verify that all reportable hours are included, including Medical Director and contracted hours, consistent with CMS reporting requirements.
  • Review validation reports for errors or warnings.
  • Confirm that no files or records were rejected.
  • Ensure the correct reporting quarter was selected.
  • Validate employee IDs, employee linking, and job codes for accuracy.

CMS Resources and Technical Support

CMS provides several resources to assist providers and will also provide live phone and email support through Friday, November 13, 2026, at 8:00 p.m. ET for the upcoming reporting deadline.

The November 14 deadline falls on a Saturday. Providers can seek live assistance no later than Friday, November 13, at 8 p.m. ET.  Submit early to allow time for assistance and corrections.
