Promote Person-Centered Practices with Support from CEAL@UNC

Programs and Resources

Researchers and the Center for Excellence in Assisted Living (CEAL@UNC) have developed a quality improvement tool to promote person-centeredness called Person-Centered Practices in Assisted Living (PC-PAL). This tool includes measures for both residents, families and staff.

CEAL@UNC is currently evaluating the PC-PAL tool and invites assisted living communities to use it. Researchers are available to support your community in implementing the tool.

  • The resident/family version includes items related to:
    • Well-being and belonging
    • Individualized care and services
    • Social connectedness
    • Atmosphere
  • The staff version includes items related to:
    • Workplace practices
    • Social connectedness
    • Individualized care and services
    • Atmosphere
    • Caregiver-resident relationships
This is an opportunity to evaluate and enhance person-centered practices in your community while contributing to the advancement of these research-based quality tools.
