Quality Assurance Performance Improvement “101” for Assisted Living

Assisted Living; Quality; Programs and Resources

Assisted living exists out of a desire to serve and support residents by offering care and services that deliver a high quality of life. Quality assurance and performance improvement (QAPI) programs create reactive and proactive actions that help assisted living communities address problems and create a roadmap for consistently improving care and service delivery.

NCAL offers a 35-minute online course titled Quality Assurance Performance Improvement 101 for Assisted Living that walks through the principles of creating a systematic, comprehensive data-driven approach to quality improvement. The training reviews the five elements of a QAPI program that create the framework for quality assisted living care and services.

The course objectives include:

  • Describe what quality assurance performance improvement is.
  • Discuss steps to implement a quality assurance performance improvement program.
  • Explain how to conduct a root cause analysis.

The course fee is $25 for NCAL members and $65 for non-members. There are no CEs but attendees who complete the course receive a certificate of completion.

Members will need to login with their AHCA/NCAL usernames and passwords to register. For assistance obtaining usernames and passwords, members should e-mail educate@ahca.org with their name and facility contact information.
